Workshops

Our workshops are an enjoyable exploration of dances, musical rhythms and folksongs from Africa and follow the musical migration of these instruments to their modern form. Combined with creative arts and drama the enrichment programme creates a playground of self-expression for participants to enjoy. They are inclusive and participatory, tailored to meet the needs of participants and aims to provide an all-round learning experience.

Our programmes are delivered over the academic school year and are split into three modules.

Module 1. Musical Playground
Module 2. Create Africa
Module 3. Musical playground pt 2

Schools can choose the full programme of three modules or individual modules. Each module is for 10 weeks including a performance in school.

Schools and Teachers

We value the input and inclusion of head teachers, class teachers, pupils and parents in the structure of our programmes so that it addresses the specific needs of their school.

Examples of some units of work covered:

  • Art and Design Unit 3b: Investigating patterns
  • Citizenship Unit 05: Living in a diverse world
  • Design and Technology Unit 5A Musical Instruments
