The children will learn about the culture surrounding the music.
From the clothes that is worn (textiles), the songs that they
sing (the meaning and significance)- ie birthdays, marriages,
the food that is eaten, rites of passage and the dances from
Africa.
The children will be taught the tie and dye technique to make
T-shirts; the dance and song that accompanies the drum pattern
learnt in Term 1; they will make African Marks and will taste
some traditional West African cuisine. A trip to the African
Gallery at the Horniman museum will be arranged to reinforce
learning.
